Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most unique of pop stars. She was an artist who could effectively bridge the gap between pop and country music and conquer the world. Swift left her country roots as if they were just a second skin revealing that she was arguably the smartest pop-oriented singer/songwriter of her time, someone who was able to harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal and equally impressively do in the opposite direction. The evidence was clear from her first songs, especially in her neo homage of Tim McGraw. On her second release Fearless (2008) Swift showcased a writer getting to get acquainted with her. The album was hugely successful and not just in the US and six of the singles were declared platinum, on top of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But the album also enjoyed a great reception across the globe. Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago, consolidated her prior popularity and launched Swift into the spotlight. Over the next three years, her popularity grew through the years -the albums - Red (2012), Reputation (2014) as well as 1989 (2014-2015) -- as she entered a new arena of pop with her skills already established. Although she slowed down her approach with 2020's stripped-down sibling releases folklore and Evermore she remained atop the world of pop, a position she maintained with re-recordings of her older catalogs as well as Midnights which was her top-charting synthesizer 2022 set.
